Types of  Massage

Swedish

Most commonly requested, this is generally a light to firm pressure massage, best for relaxation, stress relief and an introduction to massage.

Prenatal

Prenatal (aka pregnancy massage) massage helps alleviate sore spots, relax muscles, improve circulation and mobility and relieves stress to help cope with the changes pregnancy can bring.

Trigger Point

A trigger point or "knot" is a sore or tender spot found in muscle fibers. It's called a trigger point because it "triggers" a painful response in the area and pain may also be referred to other areas of the body. Finger or elbow pressure is used to deactivate these knots and decrease pain. Pressure varies on client's tolerance.

Deep Tissue

This focused, therapeutic massage is best for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, and recovery from injuries or muscle tears. More pressure is applied using deliberate, slow strokes to access deeper layers of muscle fiber and connective tissue to target muscle "knots" and to help flush toxins and lactic acid out of the body.

Pressure varies on the tolerance of the client and while it's true that the pressure is generally heavier than a Swedish massage, it shouldn't hurt. Massage DOES NOT have to be painful to be effective!

Hot Stone Massage

As the name implies, hot stone massage uses heated, smooth stones on the back, pectorals and extremities. Basalt stones are volcanic rocks that retain heat well and allow muscles to relax and loosen faster. Imagine a warm iron smoothing out the muscle wrinkles and there you go!

**Certain medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, or varicose veins) or medications (blood thinners, etc.. ) may be a disqualifying factor for this treatment. You should check with your health care provider prior to booking a hot stone massage. Likewise, if you take any blood-thinning medication, be sure to get a medical opinion first.**

Sports Massage

This type of massage is tailored to athletes and active individuals to address the stresses they place on their bodies. It's designed to help prevent injuries, increase flexibility, cool down after a workout and improve overall performance.

With increased circulation and relaxed muscles, you are able to recover faster after workouts, reduce soreness and perform at maximum capacity.

Reflexology

Simply put, reflexology is an ancient Chinese technique that uses pressure-point massage to restore the flow of energy throughout the entire body.

There are reflex points in our hands, feet and ears that relate to every organ and part of our body. By stimulating these areas with pressure and manipulation, nerve function and blood supply may be improved, which may alleviate stress and other health problems.

Chair Massage

Portable and quick, chair massages range in duration from 10-30 minutes. In only 10 minutes, your heart rate and blood pressure can decrease and just like any other type of massage, chair massage can reduce stress, improve sleep, help sore and tight muscles and enhance immunity.

This is ideal for events, group settings or busy days when you don't have an hour to spare but you want to relax and be rejuvenated.
